Located in Lakeland, Florida, the Aerospace Center for Excellence at SUN ‘n FUN is offering exciting opportunities to explore aviation, science, and technology. This fall and holiday season, families can enjoy two special events filled with hands-on activities, family fun, and holiday magic!
Wings & Things: A Day of Discovery
Saturday, November 7 | 10 AM–2 PM | FREE Admission
Get ready for an exciting day of aviation discovery at Wings & Things! This
free, family-friendly event invites visitors of all ages to explore the wonders of
aerospace through interactive activities, demonstrations, and hands-on
experiences.
Kids can build stomp rockets, construct and test their own balsa wood gliders,
explore flight simulators, and even sit inside real aircraft. Families can also
visit a portable planetarium, check out aircraft simulators, see a static hot air
balloon display, and get an up-close look at the museum’s F-14 fighter jet.
There’s plenty of fun beyond aviation! The SPCA of Lakeland will bring
adorable puppies for visitors to cuddle and play with for five minutes for just
$5, with proceeds benefiting the SPCA. The McKeel Robotics Team will
showcase its robots and demonstrate exciting technology.
The Kids Market from Tampa will also join the event, featuring more than 20
vendors offering products and goodies for children and families. When hunger
strikes, grab food from on-site vendors or enjoy a sweet treat from the ice
cream truck.
Whether your child loves building, experimenting, or exploring, Wings &
Things is a wonderful opportunity to learn through play!
Flight Before Christmas: Holiday Magic Takes Flight
Saturday, December 5 | 4–8 PM
Celebrate the season at Flight Before Christmas, a festive evening at the
Florida Air Museum! The museum will sparkle with twinkling lights illuminating
the airplanes, creating a magical holiday experience for the whole family.
Stroll through the museum, admire the decorated aircraft, and enjoy warm
apple cider, hot chocolate, and cookies. Kids can also meet Santa and take
photos to capture a special holiday memory surrounded by aviation history
and Christmas cheer.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Florida Air Museum
members receive free admission. Tickets are available at the door.
Both events offer wonderful opportunities to make memories, spark curiosity,
and spend quality time together as a family.
