There’s never been a better time to visit the Florida Air Museum! After a series of exciting improvements and updates, the museum is welcoming visitors back with refreshed exhibits, enhanced visitor experiences and even more opportunities to
explore the world of aviation.
Located at Lakeland Linder International Airport, the Florida Air Museum is more than a place to see historic aircraft. It’s a place where aviation history, education, and hands-on experiences come together for visitors of all ages. From aviation enthusiasts and lifelong history buffs to families looking for an educational adventure, there’s something for everyone to discover.
The museum recently celebrated its grand reopening following improvements designed to enhance the visitor experience. With updated spaces, new interactive opportunities, and a refreshed look, it’s the perfect time to come see what’s new and rediscover some of your favorite aviation exhibits. The museum continues to showcase aviation history through aircraft, artifacts, exhibits, restoration and educational experiences that bring the story of flight to life.
And the fun doesn’t stop when you leave the exhibit galleries. Families can explore the Jerry Holland Destination: Aviation Playground, while young aviation enthusiasts can take part in special programs designed to make learning fun and engaging.
This fall, the Aerospace Center for Excellence is also bringing a lineup of FREE events to the Florida Air Museum. On September 19, the museum will host Girls in Aviation Day, a free event open to everyone with an interest in aviation and aerospace. Visitors can explore the museum and participate in activities celebrating the many opportunities available in the aviation industry.
For families with young children, StoryTime at the Florida Air Museum returns throughout the fall. These free, interactive sessions bring aviation and STEM-themed stories to life, with museum and playground access included. October’s StoryTime theme will celebrate the “Superheroes of Aviation and the Community.”
Aviation enthusiasts can also join us for Wings ’n Waffles, the museum’s monthly speaker series. October’s program, taking place October 10, will feature aviation veteran Chuck Brown sharing stories from more than 50 years in aviation.
So, whether it’s been years since your last visit or you’ve never explored the museum before, this fall is the perfect time to come see what’s new. Discover aviation history, experience the improvements, bring the family, and take advantage of the exciting free events happening throughout the season.
